市役所前庭に設置されている調布市平和都市宣言パネルの「調布市非核平和都市宣言」に英訳文を追加しました。

調布市非核平和都市宣言

世界の恒久平和は人類共通の願望である。

核兵器保有国間で核軍拡競争が激化している今日、核戦争を回避し、原水爆の恐れのない世界を確立することは、緊急かつ重大な課題である。

わが国は、戦争による世界唯一の核被爆国として、また平和憲法の精神からも核兵器の廃絶と軍備縮小の推進に積極的な役割りを果たさなければならない。

したがってわが調布市は、非核三原則の完全実施を願い、厳粛に非核平和都市を宣言する。

Chofu City Declaration　We Are a Peaceful, Nuclear-Free City

Eternal world peace is a shared desire of all humanity.

The arms race between countries possessing nuclear weapons has intensified. The avoidance of nuclear war and the creation of a world free of the threat of nuclear weapons is an urgent and serious challenge.

As the only country in the world that has experienced nuclear bombing through war, and based on the spirit of its pacifist constitution, Japan must play a proactive role in eliminating nuclear weapons and promoting disarmament.

Accordingly, our city of Chofu, desiring the total implementation of the Three Non-Nuclear Principles, hereby declares itself with great solemnity to be a peaceful, nuclear-free city.
